Emma Turner Professor Cryer ENGL 122 12 September 2018 Bethany Thornburg EMT Community I interviewed Bethany Thornburg about her EMT community that she is a part of. Bethany is the only person in her family to pursue a community that is related to the medical field. She is from the city of Bryan, Texas originally and decided at 15 that she wanted to live with her mother who lives in Kansas full time. Bethany chose to move because she was tired of life in Texas and did not see herself going to a college in Texas. A career in the medical field has always been something that she has wanted to do. Bethany first was thinking about going through the nursing program before she saw a friend from high school that was in EMT classes, “The way that he talked about it made me want to think about pursuing it.” She jumped around a lot with jobs in the medical field and stuck with EMT because she could take it at Johnson C...

Charissa Profile
Emma Curry Professor Cryer Composition 2 15 September 2018 Community of Dance Charissa Dodd did not have any particular interest in dance when she began taking classes at the age of three. Her mother tried putting her in a multitude of activities before settling on dance. “I remember doing basketball, hated that. I did softball, hated it… I remember being in soccer and they always chose me as the goalie” she recalls, laughing. Charissa did not take to dance immediately either, but she realized over time that she loved to perform. As she got older she became very involved in the dance community, both in studio dance, and as a member of the dance team at her school. The dance community has given Charissa friendship and has provided her with an outlet and aspirations for the future. Studio dance and dance team are both forms of competitive dance. Studio dance takes place in a privately-owned space where students practice different styles of dance and often preform...

The holiday isn’t celebrated much around Kansas, but still Ariel Bowman was able to find out about it and discover an awesome holiday with all kinds of fun and interesting traditions behind it. When Ariel was younger she didn’t know much about this holiday. She knew about the holiday but didn’t celebrate it and didn’t know about the lore behind it. It wasn’t until seventh grade that she was able to find out more about it and begin her interest in El Dia de los Muertos. Her Spanish teacher, Ms. Gruen, announced that they would have a party in class for the holiday. When she arrived on the day of the party she could tell that there was somethi...
